The Research

In this part of the project, this is where more specific genres that I went for, 2 music videos analysed, including target audience is documented to shape my product better!

Music Videos Analysis (No.1)

VIDEO ONE :

I will analyse is the MV from Charlie Puth's song, "How Long". Charlie is a Pop and an R&B artist who creates music related to love... he is also known for creating his hit song "Attention" all by himself.

This is another hit song of his back in 2017, which I also bopped HAHAHA.

THE ANALYSIS :

The reason I chose to analyse this video is mainly because of the setting and what he is doing in the video. Even if it's just that, this music video in specific may not make full sense to the watcher...and be like... "Wait, why is he singing in a big building alone??" (which was also me the first time I watched this back then). The meaning of the lyrics is also why I chose this song in specific.

For the first 30 seconds, he was seen walking on the road, and then the sidewalk of the city. In the beginning, he was shown to have an upset expression on his face.

Though as he continues singing the song about some chick, he was dancing through the music.

Music Videos Analysis (No 2)

VIDEO TWO :

I will analyse is the MV from Charlie Puth's song, "How Long". Charlie is a Pop and an R&B artist who creates music related to love... he is also known for creating his hit song "Attention" all by himself.

This is another hit song of his back in 2017, which I also bopped HAHAHA.

THE ANALYSIS :

The type of music video used is performance music video, and from what I see also a concept music video which has a hint of narration to it.
Light manipulation (the ability to create light, change it in any way) is also used-
In the first few seconds of the video D4vd is seen walking past by a building, the storm clouds formed intensive light to fit in with the really dark scenery of the video.

MY INTERPRETATION :
From what I see, most of the scenes in the video is just purely dark just to emphases as an effect that he is in a depressing phase.
The way that the light plays a part of the video...it's the lighting storms while the singer lip syncs, candles, the objects (the woman's clothing, the man's blindfold)-

Based on my understanding, in a simpler way of explaining it is connected with the name of the song itself...Which is "homicide", synonym to "murder" and "romance"--
When the video progressed up until the end to d4vd, he ends up murdering the woman by the end of the video- Assuming she did something heartbreaking to him based on the lyrics...

And in my eyes, it shows that the message could be "romance is dead".
